Funeral services for Irene Gayton, 88, of Redlands, California, who died Sunday, March 18, 1990, at Cherry Valley Health Care Center in Banning, California, were March 22, 1990, at First Lutheran Church in Redlands. Burial was in Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands.

Irene Brackett was born April 17, 1901, in Kennard. She later moved with her parents to Fontanelle where she lived for 16 years before moving to Fremont.

She attended Fremont Normal College and taught school in the area. She lived in Fremont for 19 years before moving to California, where she lived for 50 years.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Redlands.

She married Benjamin Gayton. He died in 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Thormodsgard of Banning, California; four sisters, Ruth Spangler of Mill Valley, California; Gertrude Lesher of Casper, Wyoming; Mildred Bahner and Edith Pascoe, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and three grandchildren.
