Sylvia E. Egger, 84

Sylvia E. Egger, 84, of Wymore died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 26, at the Wymore Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation began Thursday, and will continue Friday at the church, one hour preceding the service.

Sylvia E. (Morrow) Egger was born May 1, 1922, in Omaha to Fred and Lulu (Dishong) Morrow. She spent her childhood and attended school in Omaha. She was employed as a nanny in Lincoln, and then in restaurants before marrying Vernard N. Egger on July 25, 1943, in Papillion. They moved to a farm near Lincoln, and then near Roca before moving to a farm near Blue Springs in 1954, and they moved into Wymore in 1972.

Mrs. Egger worked at the Beatrice State Developmental Center until her retirement, and then operated Sylvia's White Swan Cafe and did catering. She worked as a foster grandparent at Southern Elementary school in Blue Springs. She was a member of the Wymore Presbyterian Church, the Mariners of the church, taught Sunday school and served on several church committees. Her hobbies included painting, cooking, and flower and vegetable gardening.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Larry Edgar of Greenleaf, Kan., and Lela and Wayne Bauer of Blair; a son, Dale Egger of Wymore; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Chamberlain of Omaha; and Maud Small of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; brother-in-law, Robert Devney; and sister-in-law, Marry Morrow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernard, in 1976; an infant daughter, Lois Rae; two infant great-granddaughters, Madison Williams and Lindsey Kirk; two brothers, Fred and Ronald Morrow; and a sister, Mildred Devney.

Memorials are suggested to the Wymore Presbyterian Church.

Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, is in charge of arrangements.
