CHARLES S. IVES, SR., 66

Former Blair resident Charles S. Ives Sr., 65, died May 10, 2008, at his home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

A “Lodge of Sorrows” was held at the Lake Havasu Elks Club on Sunday, May 18.

“Chuck” was born Dec. 13, 1941, in Omaha and was adopted at the age of 7 by Morton and Esther Ives. He grew up in Omaha and graduated from Central High School, and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force and, after completing his tour, worked for 18 years at Milder Oil in Omaha.

In 1979, he married his beloved wife, Sandra, and together they built and operated the Blair Twin Theaters until 1998.

Mr. Ives was active in the Blair Optimist Club, and was named Nebraska Optimist of the Year in 1995-1996.

The Ives moved to Lake Havasu City in 1998, where Mr. Ives was a member of the Lake Havasu Elks Lodge BPOE, where he enjoyed playing on the dart league for nine years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 81 and the Eagles.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of Lake Havasu; daughters and sons-in-law, Christina and Nicholas Taranec of Kingman, Ariz., and Cynthia and Kurtis Kammerer of Omaha; son Michael of Amarillo, Texas; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
