Services for Asta M. Iversen, 91 of Blair who died at Good Shepherd Home January 1, 1991 are 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3 at First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Blair Cemetery.

Asta M. Jorgensen was born at Council Bluffs, Iowa April 26, 1899 to Jens and Maren Sophie Kristine Madsen Jorgensen. She attended school in Council Bluffs and Hazel Dell Township in Iowa.

She married Alfred Iversen April 8, 1920 at Neola, Iowa. They farmed in the Underwood, Iowa area until moving to Shelby, Iowa in 1945.

In 1966, they retired and moved to Blair.

Before moving to Blair, she was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Shelby where she had been organist for over 20 years. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed May 18, 1913. She served many years as a Sunday School teacher and in various other organizations of the church. During her lifetime, she enjoyed tatting and the baking of Danish pastry and sharing them with others. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alfred in October, 1972; and by two sisters, who died in infancy. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhoda and Harald Schjodt, Blair; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Reuben and Laura Iversen, Shelby, Iowa and Dr. James and Margery Iversen, Ames, Iowa; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nina Sandberg, Blair and Bertha Petersen, Spencer, Iowa. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
