MATHIAS IVERSON

Matthias (sp?) Iverson died last Sunday at his home seven miles north of Blair.

Deceased was born in Jellenge, Denmark, Dec. 6, 1858, and came to this country and settled in Platte County, this state, in 1872.

He was married to Margaret Elizabeth Deaver, March 12, 1882, and they together lived on a homestead in Platte county for seventeen years.

In 1899 they moved to the farm north of Blair where they have since resided and where they have formed many warm friendships.

In all, seven children were born to this union, six of whom are living. They are as follows: William, Randall, Earl, Theadore (sp?), Pearl, Clara and Elizabeth, the latter having died when but four years of age.

Shortly after moving to this county Mr. Iverson fell from a wagon which aggravated an old trouble which was the result of a fall from a horse while residing in Platte county and the result of the two accidents was that he became an invalid and for the past thirteen years has been helpless.

“Mat” Iverson as we all knew him was a man of sterling qualities, bright of intellect, a great reader and strictly honest. Always a good friend of those who showed themselves worthy. In all his dealings his word was considered good and he held the respect of those who knew him to the end of his life.

He leaves his family in good circumstances and best of all he leaves them knowing that he has reared them up with honorable ambitions and spotless lives.

The funeral services were held yesterday at the home at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Vig, of the Danish Lutheran church, of which organization deceased had long been a member, officiated and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Besides his immediate family of a faithful and loving wife and six loyal sons and daughters, the deceased leaves two brothers and two sisters: Peter Iverson, of Cuba, Kansas; Andrew Iverson, of Leigh, Nebr.; Mrs. Matzen, of Columbus, Nebr.; and Mrs. Niels Olson, of Leigh, Nebr., all of whom were present at the funeral services.

In losing Mr. Iverson, Washington county has lost one of her best class of citizens and the writer feels that he has lost a true friend of many years and with the family we mourn his departure.
