WILLIAM IVERSEN (sp??)

William Iversen was born Oct. 13, 1873 of the farm which his parents homesteaded, about three miles west of Ft. Calhoun. His pioneer father was the man who plowed the first furrow in Ft. Calhoun, having the only team of horses in town. Will or “Bill” as he was known to all, spent his entire life in this vicinity.

On March 23, 1898, he was united in marriage to Bertha Fischer. To this union, two sons and two daughters were born.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and highly respected by all.

He departed from this life on Sunday Jan. 16, 1938 at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 3 days. He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife Bertha; daughters Edna and son Chris at home; daughter Celia Schneider and husband; son, Otto and wife, living on nearby farms; one grandchild, Jeannine May Schneider. Two brothers, Herman of Ft. Calhoun, John of Plattsmouth, a sister, Mrs. Rose Cappelletti of Omaha, other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held from the residence yesterday afternoon, Rev. R.E. Donaldson officiating. Despite the bad roads nearly 300 friends assembled for the last rites. Interment was in the Ft. Calhoun Cemetery.
