Harold Eggen, 86, of Helena, Mont., died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Cooney Convalescent Home in Helena, Mont.
Services will be in Denver, Colo.
Harold Eggen was born May 2, 1913, in Omaha. He graduated from Omaha University with a master's degree in education, and was an educator in the Omaha schools for more than 35 years. He enjoyed working with young people, was dedicated to his teaching, and won several honors as an outstanding biology teacher. He also served as a naval officer in the Pacific during WWII.
His passions included nature, the outdoors, gardening, photography, music, reading and travel.
After retirement, he moved to Blair, where he remained until moving to Montana in 1997.
He is survived by a daughter, Elaine Meyers of Denver, Colo.; son, Eric Eggen of Helena, Mont., two grandsons, Scott and Steve Underwood of Denver, Colo.; a granddaughter, Sarah Eggen of Bozeman, Mont.; and two great-grandsons of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Kathryn (Williams) Eggen.
