JUSTICE, A PIONEER, DIES

LINNIE JUSTICE OF HERMAN, 96, ONETIME DESOTO FARMER, IS DEAD

One of the last true pioneers of Washington County, Linnie Justice is dead.

Mr. Justice, 96, a Herman resident but earlier a DeSoto farmer, died in an Omaha rest home last Thursday.

Native of Indiana, he was born July 15, 1860, and came here with his parents in 1867. He lived at DeSoto many years. He and Ida McCoy were married in 1898. His parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving him are three sons, Ray of Beatrice; James of Portland, Ore.; Claude of Grand Junction, Colo.; and two daughters, Mrs. Lela West and Mrs. Gertrude Brewster of Los Angeles. Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Hazel Lewis of Chattanooga, Tenn., and a sister, Mrs. Mary Tucker of Racine, Wis. There are 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Herman Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Peterson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Fern West, J.B. Jensen, Ray Mencke, Grover Trotter, Fred Ray and Charles Sheets.
