Letta J. Effken, 92

Services for Letta J. Effken of Blair, 92, who died at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair April 7, 1995, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11 at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Letta J. Effken was born March 23, 1903, at Cook, Nebraska, to Fred and Mattie Oetken Wendell. She graduated from Cook High school and attended Peru State College.

She taught school near Cook, Nebraska, for eight years.

On May 6, 1930, she married Fred J. Effken of Cook, Nebraska. They moved to Herman, Nebraska, in 1937 where she worked with her husband at the Farmers Union Co-op. In 1971, they moved to Blair, Nebraska for their retirement.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; grandson, Thomas Ray, and sister, Mary Schmidt.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Shirley Effken, Holland, Michigan; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Hurley Ray, Tekamah, Nebraska; Mary Ann and Robert Jensen, Moville, Iowa; brother Herman Wendell, Auburn, Nebraska; sister Anna Lipps, Leesville, Louisiana; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Frances Effken, Clearwater, Florida.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
