# 1 - - EDWIN T. JUEDES, 83

Services were Wed., Sept. 25, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington for Edwin T. Juedes, 83 of Arlington, who died Sept. 22, 1996 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. Dr. Michael L. Rogers officiated. Burial was in the St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Military graveside services were conducted by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332 and American Legion Post No. 71 of Arlington.

Edwin T. Juedes was born May 27, 1913 at Higgins (now Huntsman), Neb. To Albert and Caroline Thiemann Juedes. He grew up at Higgins and later lived at Gurley and Sidney, Neb.

He moved to Arlington in 1946 and operated a grocery store there with his father for two years. He moved to Idaho for three years and then returned to Arlington, where he lived until moving to Arbor Manor in 1994.

He worked for the former Cornhusker Seed Corn Co., until they sold out and then he worked on the Merle Newkirk farm near Arlington. Later he was employed by the former Crib & Silo Co. in Fremont. He worked for Valley Mfg. Co (now Valmont Industries) from 1958 until he retired in 1978.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from March 4, 1942 to Nov. 11, 1945. He served in the Aleutian Islands, France and Germany.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington.

He married Mary Royuk October 24, 1948 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Viola Mosel, Florence Wynia and Arlene Klug.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a brother, Raymond Juedes of Nampa, Idaho; a sister, Esther Frerichs of Gurley, neb.; several nieces and nephews, including Beverly (Mrs. Lyle) Greunke of Arlington, Joyce (Mrs. Bob) Anderson of Kennard and Eunice (Mrs. Curt) Warren of Fremont and Wayne and Barbara Kay Royuk of Arlington and two sisters-in-law, Esther Royuk and Lillian Royuk, both of Arlington.

Pallbearers were Allen Frerichs, Frankie Johnson, Bob Juedes, Kyle Royuk, Jeremy Warren, Jamie Anderson and Brian Greunke.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of services.

# 2 - - EDWIN T.A. JUEDES

Edwin Theodore August Juedes, the son of Albert and Caroline (Thiemann) Juedes, was born May 27, 1913 at Higgins, Nebraska, now called Huntsman. He was raised at Higgins and also lived at Gurley and Sidney, NE. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from March 4, 1942 to November 11, 1945 and served in the Aleutian Islands, France and Germany. After his discharge, he lived at Gurley with his parents and then moved to Arlington, NE in 1946 to operate a grocery store with his father. He then moved with his family to Idaho, where he lived for 1 year and then returned to Arlington to marry Mary Royuk on October 24, 1948 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington. The couple moved back to Idaho where they lived for 2 years and then returned to Arlington, where he has lived until moving to the Arbor Manor Living Center at Fremont in 1994.

He was employed at the former Cornhusker Seed Corn Company until they sold out and then he worked on the Merle Newkirk farm at Arlington. He later was employed by the former Crib & Silo Company at Fremont until starting to work for Valley Manufacturing Company, which is now Valmont Industries at Valley, NE, from 1958 until retiring in 1978.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington. He was a former member of the Salem Lutheran Church at Higgins, NE where he was baptized in 1913 and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in 1928.

Edwin passed from this life on Sunday, September 22, 1996, at Arbor Manor Living Center in Fremont, NE, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 26 days. He is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, Raymond Juedes of Nampa, Idaho; sister, Esther Frerichs of Gurley, NE; nieces, Beverly (Mrs. Lyle) Greunke of Arlington; Joyce (Mrs. Bob) Anderson of Kennard; and Eunice (Mrs. Curt) Warren of Fremont; nephew, Wayne and wife, Barbarakay Royuk of Arlington and several other nieces and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law, Esther Royuk and Lillian Royuk, both of Arlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Viola Mosel, Florence Wynia and Arlene Klug.
