MARY JUEDES, 79

Mary Juedes, 79, of Fremont, died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services were March 27, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. The Rev. Dr. Michael L. Rogers officiated.

Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Arlington.

Pallbearers were Kyle, Michael, Brent, Zachary and Matthew Royuk, Brian Greunke, Julian Staros, Jamie and Jeff Anderson and Jeremy Warren.

Honorary pallbearers were Allen Frerichs, Wayne, Richard, Ronald, William and Rodney Royuk, Lyle Greunke, Curt Warren, Jim Ash and Paul Staros.

Mary Juedes was born Nov. 1, 1919, to Maxim and Warvara (Horpenek) Royuk in Arlington. She grew up in Arlington and married Edwin T. Juedes on Oct. 24, 1948.

After her marriage, she moved to Idaho for two years and returned to Arlington, working for the former Campbell Soup Co. in Fremont and then as a telephone operator in Arlington until June 1966.

In October of 1993, she moved to Arbor Manor in Fremont.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Arlington and a former member of the St. Paul’s Quilters group, which she belonged for many years.

She was known as “The Sunshine Girl” because of her attitude and courage after her leg was amputated in 1938.

She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Esther and Lillian Royuk, both of Arlington, and Esther Frerichs of Gurley; several nieces and nephews including Beverly and Lyle Greunke, and Wayne and Barbarakay Royuk, all of Arlington; Eunice and Curt Warren of Fremont; and Joyce Anderson of Kennard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin, who died Sept. 22, 1996; three brothers, Paul, Henry and John Royuk; sister, Olga Royuk; and brother-in-law, Raymond Juedes of Nampa, Idaho.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Arlington.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home of Arlington, was in charge of arrangements.
