Mildred J. Christensen, 83

Mildred J. Christensen, 83, of Glenwood, Iowa, formerly of Blair, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Glenwood.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery.

Mildred Jean Labs was born July 20, 1928, in rural Elkhorn to George and Catherine (Cornelius) Labs. She graduated with the Class of 1946 from Elkhorn High School.

She was united in marriage to James L. Christensen on Dec. 2, 1949, near Bennington. She enjoyed being a farm wife and mother.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair and later, Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood, Iowa. After retirement, the Christensens enjoyed traveling and were able to travel to 48 states.

Because of health reasons, they settled in Glenwood to be closer to their daughter.

She is survived by her husband, James; daughter and son-in-law, Jacque and Dr. Darcy Butts of Glenwood; two grandsons and their spouses; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Lyla Christensen.
