Joan F. Scheer, 75, of Auburn, formerly of Arlington, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Auburn.

Services were Thursday, April 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Interment was in Trinity (Stutheit) Cemetery near Johnson.

Joan Fern Moseman was born October 28, 1936, in Hooper, to Herman and Fern (Briggs) Moseman.

She was baptized December 20, 1936 and confirmed February 19, 1950 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winslow.

She graduated from high school in Hooper after which she received her teaching certificate from Concordia College in Seward.

On June 1, 1958, she was united in marriage to Marlin Scheer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hooper. The couple made their home in Arlington.

She taught for 1½ years at Immanuel Lutheran School in Hooper before her marriage, and after their wedding taught for a time at Lone Tree School in Arlington. She worked for many years as the church secretary at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Arlington.

In 1998, the couple moved to Auburn and she served as church secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh. Mrs. Scheer’s current position was as part-time secretary at the Farm Bureau Insurance office in Auburn.

From Immanuel Lutheran to St. Paul Lutheran, and most recently as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn, she was always very active in her church. At Trinity she was a member of LWML, the Evangelism committee, and the Board of Education.

Mrs. Scheer had belonged to the Home Harmony Club while in Arlington. She liked to bowl and golf when she was able, and loved to follow Husker and K.C. Royals baseball.

After a diagnosis of cancer in December of 2011, Mrs. Scheer battled the disease at her home in Auburn with the help of her family. On April 5 she was admitted to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn and the next day transferred to the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn.

She is survived by her husband, Marlin of Auburn; daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Jerry Ruskamp of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law, Kendall and Renay Scheer of Omaha; grandchildren, Christine and Laura Ruskamp, Riley Anderson, and Robison Scheer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Lorraine Moseman of Fremont, Calvin and Marian Moseman of Oakland, Duane and LaRae Moseman of Hooper; sisters-in-law, Marlene Moseman of Hooper, Joan Moseman of Wausa, Phyllis and Jim Peterson of Fremont and Linda Sheer of Fremont; brother-in-law, Wayne Scheer of Fremont; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Snover; brothers, Kenneth and Marlin; and brothers-in-law, Dale Snover and Verdell Scheer.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Foundation- Auburn, NE.

Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn was in charge of arrangements.

Joan F. Scheer, 75, of Auburn, formerly of Arlington, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Auburn.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Visitation will be at Hemmingsen Funeral Home, 801 S Street in Auburn on Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Trinity (Stutheit) Cemetery near Johnson.
