Mrs. L. E. Edwards Dies

The death of Mrs. L. E. Edwards of this city, occurred last Saturday, March 7, at the family home following a long illness.

The deceased, who was Iva Lee Thomas, was born in Cooper County, Missouri, August 28, 1888. She was married to Lawrence E. Edwards at Booneville, Mo., March 11, 1908. To this union was born two little daughters, Sue May, age twelve years and Mary Katherine, age eight years, who, with the husband survive to mourn the loss of a kind and devoted mother.

Besides the immediate family, there are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Thomas of Pilot Grove, Mo., two brothers, George M. of Sioux City, Ia., and Ray of Boonville and three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Schlotzhauer and Mrs. Fulton Todd of Pilot Grove and Mrs. Carl Pohl of Boonville.

The mother, Mrs. Thomas and the brother, George attended the funeral services which were held Monday, March 9, at 2:30 o'clock from the Baptist church of which the deceased was a member.

Rev. Smalley had charge of the services.

Mr. Edwards' brother, Claude W. Edwards and sister, Mrs. C. J. Doney both of Kansas City, were also in attendance at the services.

Interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Mr. Edwards and family came here a few years ago where Mr. Edwards is employed as lineman for the Blair Telephone Company. He and his children have the sincere sympathy of the community in their great sorrow.

Ira Lee Edwards, wife of L.E. Edwards of the Independent Telephone Co., died Saturday at the family home, 301 east Lincoln street, the funeral being held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church, Rev. Smalley officiating. A husband and two small daughters are left to mourn her death, as well as her parents and a brother and sister. Mrs. Edwards was born in Missouri, August 28, 1889. She had been in failing health for the past several years, suffering with heart trouble.

11 Mar., 1925 - The Pilot

Mrs. L. E. Edwards died at her home on east Lincoln street last Saturday from an illness of about two years duration. Despite her long illness the end came quite suddenly, she being able to be about the house only a few days before her death. The funeral was held at the Baptist church at 2:30 Monday afternoon, Rev. Arthur L. Smalley officiating. Iva Lee Thomas was born in Cooper county, Mo. August 28, 1888, so wasn’t yet 37 years of age. She was married to L. E. Edwards in Booneville, Mo., March 11th, 1908, and besides her husband leaves two daughters, Sue May, aged 13 and Mary Catherine, aged 8. Also her parents, Mr. and Mr. Geo. R. Thomas of Pilot Grove, Mo., two brothers, George M. Thomas of Sioux City, Iowa, and Ray Thomas of Booneville and three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Schlotzhaner and Mrs. Fulton Todd of Pilot Grove, Mo., and Mrs. Carl Pohl of Boonefille. She was a member of the Baptist church at this place, having transferred her membership to the Blair church shortly after moving here. Her mother and brother, George, were the only relatives able to be here for the funeral service. Mr. Edwards’ brother Claude and sister, Mrs. C. J. Doney, both of Kansas, Mo., were here also.
