Loving Mother And Grandmother

Virgene R. Sill, 89, of Fort Calhoun died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m Friday, April 13, at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. conducted by Naomi Chapter #121 at the Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Virgene Ruth Freburg was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Bertrand, to Godfrey E. and Mabel (Bergman) Freburg.

She attended country school near Oxford and later in Alma. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1940 and attended business college in Denver, Colo.

Mrs. Sill was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter #121 in Fort Calhoun for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Association, Fort Calhoun Women’s Club, Fort Calhoun American Legion Auxiliary, the Silver Chords at Country Bible Church in Blair and the Washington County Museum Guild.

Her hobbies and interests included quilting, reading, working crossword puzzles, Bible study, gardening and flowers and embroidery.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jeri and Chuck Welchert and Jo and Mitch McGowan, all of Fort Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Tammy Sill of Fort Calhoun; brothers, Stu Freburg of Fort Calhoun and Stanley Freburg of Lansing, Mich.; six grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Verdon “Chuck” Sill.

Memorials are suggested to Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.
