Mrs. Theodore Kahler, Sr., died at her home in North Blair at 6:30 Monday evening of pneumonia, having been sick only since last Wednesday. Mr. Kalher is also very sick with the same disease and on his account the funeral has been postponed until 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Kahler sold his farm west of town to Ed Jones and bought the E.R. Henderson property in this city, moving here about a month ago.

She was 67 years of age and besides the husband she leaves two sons, Joe of Mondamin, Ia., and Theo. Jr., of Missouri Valley, Ia. Also an only daughter, Dora, who is married and lives in New Mexico.

Mrs. Theodore Kahler, 67 years old, died at her residence in Dexterville, on Wednesday morning at 6:30 from pneumonia. A sad incident in connection with the death of Mrs. Kahler is the fact that her husband is at the point of death and his end in momentarily expected. The Kahler's moved to this city about one month ago, having sold their farm to Ed Jones. They purchased the E. R. Henderson place where they have since resided. The surviving members f the Kahler family are : Joseph, on Mondamin, Ia., Theodore, Jr., of Missouri Valley, and Dora, of New Mexico.

A DOUBLE DEATH

The passing of two of Blair’s best German citizens, that of husband and wife has occurred since April 24. Mrs. Frederick Kahler departing this life on April 24, her husband, Frederick Kahler, passing away April 29.

Fredrick Theodore Kahler, was born in Hammer, Germany June 20, 1845, and grew to young manhood in that country, serving in the Franco-Prussian war in 1870-71.

Miss Dorothea Margaret Kelke was born in Meldorf, Germany, Nov. 14, 1849.

This couple were united in marriage May 2, 1872, and three days after, started for America, living in the eastern states and Chicago until 27 years ago when they came to Missouri Valley, Iowa. In 1910, they moved to a farm two miles southwest of Blair, where they resided until the first of March of the present year when they retired from active work and moved to Blair, intending to spend the residue of their years in ease and comfort.

While repairing the house into which they so recently moved, both Mr. and Mrs. Kahler contracted pneumonia, which caused their deaths.

The funeral of this most estimable couple was held last Sunday at 2 p.m. at the German-Lutheran church, Rev. A.W. Lambrecht, the pastor, having charge of he obsequies and the bodies were laid side by side in the Blair cemetery.

Three children survive the couple; they are Joseph, of Mondamin, Iowa, Theodore, of Missouri Valley and Mrs. Otto Ley, of Wanett, New Mexico, all of whom were present at the funeral.
