Rasmus Johnson Dies in Fremont

Rasmus Christian Johnson, 83, former farmer near Blair, died at his home in Fremont Tuesday morning, following an illness of several years.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Johnson, he was born at Lange Land, Denmark, November 6, 1852. He was married in Michigan, December 14, 1872, to Christina Johnson, and they moved to Nebraska, farming northwest of Fremont 17 years before coming to Blair. Mrs. Johnson died in 1923, and Mr. Johnson went to Fremont five years ago. He is survived by only one daughter, Hannah, of Fremont, and seven sons, Will and Chris of Blair, Martin, John and Daniel of Omaha, Edward and Louis of Fremont. Four children preceded him in death. A brother living in Minnesota, 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at First Lutheran church in Fremont, where Mr. Johnson had served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent.
