VINTON JOHNSON

Funeral services for Vinton W. Johnson of Sun City, Arizona, were held Saturday, October 19, 1985, at the Sunland Mortuary of Sun City. He died the preceding Wednesday (estimated: 10/16/1985) at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Home of Sun City at the age of 81.

Pastor Gene Siekman of the Sun City Faith Presbyterian Church, of which Vinton was a member, officiated at the services.

Vinton W. Johnson was born February 5, 1904, in Wausa. He was confirmed in Swedish at the Swedish Covenant Church in Wausa.

He was a farmer and farmed in partnership for forty-five years with his brother, Byron, first at Wausa, then near West Point and later Craig. He retired in 1973 due to illness. He later moved to Fremont, where he lived for eight years, and then to Sun City.

Vinton was a member of the Divide Center Presbyterian Church, Lyons, and served as an elder and Sunday School teacher. He served as director of the Bertha School Board for several years. He also served on the Bell Creek Township Board.

He was united in marriage to Thelma L. Stromquist on October 23, 1937, at the Congregational Church in Uehling. To this union three children were born.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald LeRoy; a daughter, Jerilyn Ann and a brother, Ivel.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma of Sun City; daughter, Maxine of Los Angeles, California; a brother, Byron K. of Oakland, Nebraska; a sister, Viola Wiese of Alameda, California, and many nieces and nephews.
