Gordon Gentzler, 73

Gordon Gentzler, 73, of Tekamah, died Dec. 26, 2005, at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha. Memorial services were held Dec. 30 at the Tekamah-Herman High School.

Gordon Gentzler was born May 9, 1932, in Homer to Gurney and Mable (Sorensen) Gentzler. He attended Creighton Public Schools.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Midland Lutheran College and a Master’s Degree from the University of Nebraska.

On June 1, 1952, he married Beverly Finch.

Mr. Gentzler taught and coached athletics for 35 years, the final 27 years were at the Tekamah-Herman Schools. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; sister, Leola Stingley of Norfolk; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Eldora Gentzler of Blair, Stanley and Audrey Gentzler of Cozad, Roger and Alice Gentzler of Norfolk; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Tyler of Creighton, Karol and Art Sufficool of Crofton; brother-in-law, J. R. and Jeanne Finch of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Clinton; and brother-in-law, Lyle Stingley.
