Jacob J. Ackerman who resides near Herman, died Sunday, Sept. 29. He settled on the farm where he died, in 1871. He was nearly 83 years old. A widow and three children survive him. They are: John J. Ackerman, Mrs. Carl Hansen, Mrs. Jas. N. Harrison. The funeral service was held at the First Baptist church in Herman, Tuesday, at two o'clock p. m., the Rev. F.M. Sturdevant of Blair officiating.

Jacob A. Ackerman died at his home near Herman Sunday at the advanced age of 82 years and 9 months. Rev. F.M. Sturdevant, pastor of the Baptist church at this place, went up yesterday to conduct the funeral, which was held at the Baptist church in Herman at 4 o’clock. Besides the widow he leaves one son, J.J. Ackerman, and two daughters, Mrs. James Harrison and Mrs. Carl Hanson, all of whom live in the vicinity of Herman. He was born in Switzerland in 1857 and came to this country in 1871, settling on a farm about four miles from Herman, which was his home until called to “another, an heavenly home.”
