Funeral services for Rodney W. Johnson, 35, of Hooper, were held Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Tom Shaw officiated. Interment was at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Mr. Johnson, along with his family was killed in an automobile accident on Saturday, Aug. 10, near Purcell, Okla.

Rodney W. Johnson was born July 28, 1967, in Grants N.M., to Marvin C. and Evelyn Johnson. He grew up in from Hooper and was a 1985 graduate of Logan View High School. While in High school, he participated in football, wrestling, golf and baseball.

He previously worked at Excel Corporation in Schuyler, Omaha Packing Company, Fremont Meat Market, Food 4 Less, Jayhawk Box Company and Diers Motors in Fremont. He moved to Fremont in 1994, but returned to Hooper in 2000. He was presently employed at Woodhouse Inc. in Blair.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Fremont, and the Elkhorn Golf Course in Hooper.

On Feb. 19, 1994, he married Amy Jo Mueller at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The couple had three children, Allyssa, 12, Sheldon, 8, and Mariah, 5.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his mother and stepfather, Evelyn, and Patrick Schlueter of Hooper; three brothers and sister-in-laws, Neal and Carol Johnson of Hooper, Gary and Lesa Johnson of Lincoln, and Terry and Lori Johnson of Baldwin City, Kan.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Jeff Hansen, and Janet and Kevin Hula, all of Fremont; a stepbrother and his wife, Dave and LeAnn Schlueter of Hooper; stepsister and her husband, Peg and Larry Krause of Wood River.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.

Memorials are suggested to the Rod and Amy Jo Johnson Family Memorial.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of the arrangements.
