Arnold Hill, 88, of Blair, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Good Shepherd Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, at Country Bible Church. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Telbasta Cemetery.

Arnold Hill was born May 2, 1923.

He grew up on a farm near Monroe and farmed with his father until he joined the U.S. Army’s First Army 26th Division Company C Yankee.

He married his longtime sweetheart, Eleanor Weldon, on November 13, 1943. The following January he deployed for World War II and returned in 1946. Later that year, the family moved to Blair and he began his 18-year career at Vinton Motors as a mechanic.

He worked for various trucking companies in Omaha then bought his own truck and began coast-to-coast trucking.

Mr. Hill retired from the Blair bus barn in 1986. The couple spent several winters in South Texas until Mrs. Hill's death in 2002.

He enjoyed traveling and working in his yard. His biggest enjoyment was building stock cars and motors and then going to the stock car races.

He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Jan Hill of Omaha and Bob Hill of Blair; daughters and son-in-law, Becky and Gary Kruger of Herman and Cathy Hill of Blair; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ida Lois and Ken Weber of Claremore, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; and an infant daughter, Barbara.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
