Harry Edward Giesselman, the son of John and Hannah (Jacob) Giesselman was born on a farm near Arlington, Nebraska, on October 12, 1902. He was baptized on November 9, 1902, and confirmed on April 16, 1916, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington, Nebraska. On April 14, 1929, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, he was united in Holy Matrimony with Verona E. Hilgenkamp. Harry lived all his life in the Arlington area, where he farmed until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served as an Elder. He was on the Church Finance Committee and a Charter Member of the Lutheran Layman’s League.

He passed from this life, Tuesday, October 22, 1985, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County, Fremont, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his wife, Verona; 2 sons, Harry, Jr. of Seward, NE, and Anthony of Omaha, NE; a daughter, Mrs. Lila Stork of Arlington; 4 sisters, Mrs. Clara Vogt of Arlington, Miss Edna Giesselman of Omaha, NE, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Riley of Fremont, and Mrs. Walter (Leona) Nieman of Blair, NE; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Edward and Albert; 2 sisters, Emma Toebben and Ella Miller.

Following the graveside services, a lunch will be served in the Parish Hall for the family, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were: Daniel Stork, Timothy Stork, Bryan Giesselman, James Stork, John Metzler and Boyd Giesselman.

Organist and choir director was Dennis Godeman.

Harry Giesselman

Funeral services for 83 year old Harry Giesselman, of 630 North 8th, Arlington, was held on Friday, October 25. Mr. Giesselman died on October 22, 1985, at the Fremont Hospital.

Services were handled by the Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Rev. Dennis Maaske officiated with burial in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Giesselman was born October 12, 1902, on a farm near Arlington John G. and Hannah (Jacob) Giesselman. He was married on April 14, 1929, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church to Verona E. Hilgenkamp and the couple farmed in the Arlington area all of their life. In 1980 he retired and they moved into Arlington.

He was a Charter member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, served as a Church Elder and served on the church’s finance committee.

Officiating: Pastor Dennis Maaske; Organist & Choir Director: Mr. Dennis Godeman. The Choir will sing: “How Great Thou Art”. The funeral congregation will sing Hymn #416 “The Lord Is My Shepherd”; Hymn #192 “Behold A Host Arrayed In White”

Pallbearers: Daniel Stork, Timothy Stork, Bryan Giesselman, Boyd Giesselman, James Stork, John Metzler.

Interment: St. Paul’s Cemetery, Arlington, Nebraska
