Obituary

Mrs. Emma Giesselmann, nee Hilgenkamp, the widow of Herman Giesselman, was born April 1867, at Arlington, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington of which she was a faithful member until 17 years ago when she moved to Fremont and joined Trinity Lutheran Church of which she was a member until the time of her death.

In 1885, she was married to Mr. Herman Giesselman. This union was blest with fifteen children, three of whom died in their early infancy. Her husband preceded her in death February 17, 1912.

Mrs. Giesselman, after several weeks of illness, was on the road to recovery, but died suddenly from a heart attack on September 11 at her home in Fremont at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 3 days.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, September 14, at Fremont by her pastor, Rev. William Brueggemann at 2 o’clock at Trinity Lutheran Church with a very large attendance. She was laid to rest at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, north of Arlington.

She leaves to mourn her loss, two sons and ten daughters: Mrs. Ed Lallman, Fremont; Mrs. Henry D. Stork, Herman; Mrs. George Lentz, Fremont; Herney Giesselmann, Arlington; Ernest Giesselmann, Arlington; Mrs. George Stohlman, Omaha; Mrs. Rudolph Dunklau, Arlington; Mrs. James Brown, Fremont; Mrs. Kurt Weicke, Fremont; Mrs. Earl Somers, Fremont; Mrs. Albert Launer, Fremont; Mrs. Earl Strenger, Fremont; two daughter-in-law and ten sons-in-law; and twenty-three grandchildren, besides three brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law, and a large number of distant relatives.

The pallbearers were nephews of the departed: Herman, Henry, Arthur, Henry Hilgenkamp, and William and Fred Vogt.
