Henry Giesselmann Services Were Held On Wednesday

Henry Giesselmann, life-long resident of the Arlington community died suddenly Sunday morning, on May 28th. He was born on a farm north of Arlington on February 25, 1891, and received his elementary schooling at the St. Paul’s Lutheran School.

He was united in marriage to Henriette Kruger on October 18, 1916. The couple observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary with a service and open house at St. Paul’s last fall.

Mr. and Mrs. Giesselmann were blessed with six children, all living: Glenn, Arlington, Lyle, Bennington, Rupert, Seward, Merle, Fremont, Larry, Snyder and Mrs. Gene Bloemker (Harriet) Arlington. Besides Mrs. Giesselmann and the 6 children, 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, one brother and 9 sisters also survive.

The brother is Ernst of Fremont. The sisters are Mrs. Ed Lallman, Mrs. Henry Stork, Mrs. Louise Lentz, Mrs. Herman Timme, Mrs. Kurt Weicke, Mrs. Carl Lammers and Mrs. Earl Strenger, all of Fremont. The other two sisters are Mrs. Sophia Stohlmann of St. Louis and Mrs. Albert Larmer of San Diego.

Mr. Giesselmann farmed all his life north of Arlington until his retirement in 1954. He was a lifelong member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Funeral services were conducted from St. Paul’s Church on Wednesday, May 31. Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Rev. Carl Hellmann officiated with the Reckmeyer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Harry Giesselmann, Raymond Echtenkamp, Otto Vogt, Martin Hilgenkamp, Leonard Thompson and Albert Montgomery.
