‘SI’ JONES IS DEAD, AGE 50

EX-BLAIRITE BURIED IN BLAIR CEMETERY AFTER MILITARY RITES

Josiah E. Jones, 59, better known locally as “Si” Jones, died last Wednesday at Chinook, Mont. Native of DeSoto, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Jones, he left Blair at the age of 19 for Montana. He was a World War I veteran.

The body arrived in Blair Sunday night. Funeral rites were held at the Campbell Mortuary at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. J.D. Johnson of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Burial was in Blair cemetery. The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion provided graveside military rites.

Surviving Mr. Jones are two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Smith of Eatonville, Wash., and Mrs. Edith Landers of Omaha; also one brother, Edgar L. Jones of Emerson. Another brother, Herbert Jones, Sr., died several years ago. Also surviving are eight nephews and five nieces.

Josiah E. Jones, a resident of Blair forty years ago, was buried at Blair Tuesday afternoon.

He had been born at DeSoto August 17, 1894 and left Blair at the age of 19 to locate at Chinook, Montana which was his home when he died. He was never married.

He is survived by two sisters, Mattie Smith of Eatonville, Washington, and by Edith Landers of Omaha. A brother, Edgar, resides at Emerson.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J.D. Johnson and military honors were accorded him at the graveside.
