Mrs. Wm. Cheeley received the sad news yesterday morning of the death of her only sister’s husband, Victor Johnson, at their home in Shoshone, Idaho, at 2:30. Mrs. Johnson developed tuberculosis some years ago and they hastened to the higher altitude for her health. She improved but about a year ago it was discovered that he had the same disease, which developed rapidly and caused his death at the early age of 43. His home was at Genoa, Neb., where his mother and several sisters and brothers are now living. He was a graduate of Chicago University and also of the law department of the Nebraska State University. He was married to Miss Dora Sprague in the spring of 1898 and went south with the 2nd Neb. Vol. Inf. to serve in the war with Spain immediately. There he contracted typhoid fever and came back almost a wreck, from which he never fully recovered. Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Chester, Victor, Jr., and Eric, and one daughter, May.
