Verona E. Giesselman, 93, of Arlington died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington, with the Rev. Rodney Meske officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington, and Friday at the church, one hour prior to services.

Verona E. Giesselman was born Dec. 4, 1907, in Arlington to John and Clara (Lentz) Hilgenkamp. She was a lifetime resident of the Arlington area.

On April 14, 1929, she married Harry E. Giesselman at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. After the couple retired from farming, they moved into Arlington in 1980.

Mrs. Giesselman was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, past president and past treasurer of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and former member of the Elkhorn River Extension Club.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Carol Giesselman of Omaha, a daughter, Lila Scheer of Arlington, daughter-in-law, Lois Giesselman of Seward, two sisters-in-law, Leona Nieman of Wayne and Marj Hilgenkamp of Arlington, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, a son, Harry Jr., and two brothers, Harold and Virgil Hilgenkamp.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, or Concordia College in Seward.

Verona Elise Giesselman, the daughter of John H. and Clara E. (Lentz) Hilgenkamp, was born December 4, 1907 at Arlington, Nebraska. She grew up in the Arlington area. She married Harry E. Giesselman on April 14, 1929 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington. The couple farmed near Arlington until moving into Arlington in 1980.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, past president and past treasurer of the Lutheran Womens Missionary League, and a past member of the Elkhorn River Extension Club.

Verona passed from this life on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Arbor Manor in Fremont, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 20 days. She is survived by as son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Carol Giesselman of Omaha; daughter, Lila Scheer of Arlington; daughter-in-law, Lois Giesselman of Seward; sisters-in-law, Leona Nieman of Wayne and Marj Hilgenkamp of Arlington; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry, who died October 22, 1985; son Harry Giesselman, Jr.; and brothers, Harold and Virgil Hilgenkamp.
