Glenn H. Giesselmann, 74

Services for Glenn H. Giesselmann, 74, of Arlington, who died at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County February 11, 1992, were Friday, February 14 at St. Paul Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Rev. Michael L. Rogers officiated. Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery with military services conducted by Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332 and American Legion Post No. 71.

Glenn H. Giesselmann was born September 6, 1917, at Arlington. He lived all his life in the Arlington area.

He farmed from 1946 to 1963. He then worked for Boschult Construction of Fremont and Gerwick Construction of Snyder until 1972 when he started work as a custodian and maintenance man for the Arlington Public Schools.

He moved into Arlington in 1963. He retired from the Arlington School System in 1982.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Arlington VFW Post No. 8332.

He served in the United States Army during World War II from September 22, 1942, to January 9, 1946. He served in the Asiatic/Pacific theatre.

He married Meta Dunklau February 23, 1941, at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Henriette Kruger Giesselmann and a brother, Larry.

He is survived by his wife, Meta; three daughters, Diane Cook of Sidney, Nebraska; Sharon (Dr. Charles) Petrie of San Diego, California, and Glenda (Dr. Arthur) Isreal of Seattle, Washington; three brothers, Lyle of Omaha, Rupert of S. Louis, Missouri and Merle of Fremont; one sister, Harriet (Mrs. Gene) Bloemker of Dakota City, Nebraska, and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lee Wehmeyer, Dennis Wittmann, Steve Bremer, Randy Bloemker, Ronald Giesselmann and Dean Giesselmann.

Arlington—The funeral for Glenn H. Giesselmann, 74, of Arlington will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington.

Mr. Giesselmann was born Sept. 6, 1917 in Arlington, where he was a life-time resident. He farmed in the Arlington area 1946-63. He worked for Boschult Construction of Fremont and Gerwick Construction of Snyder until 1972, when he started work as a custodian and maintenance man for Arlington Public Schools. He had moved into Arlington in 1963. He retired from the school system in 1982.

Mr. Giesselmann was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8332. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, Sept. 22, 1942 to Jan. 9, 1946. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater.

He married Meta Dunklau Feb. 23, 1941, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Diane Cook of Sidney, Sharon (Dr. Charles) Petrie of San Diego, Calif., and Glenda (Dr. Arthur) Isreal of Seattle, Wash.; three brothers, Lyle of Omaha, Rupert of St. Louis, Mo., and Merle of Fremont; a sister, Harriet (Mrs. Gene) Bloemker of Dakota City; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

The Rev. Michael L. Rogers will officiate Friday’s service. Visitation will be until 9 tonight at Reckmeyere-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour before time of service at the church. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8332 and American Legion Post 71. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Arlington.
