Ernest Gift died at the Blair hospital Monday evening, after an operation for cancer which proved fatal. He was taken sick Sunday noon at the dinner table, at his place north of town, and was taken to the hospital, where everything possible was done for him, but his race with life was finished, and it was impossible to save him.

He was just forty-two years of age, and was born near St. Joseph, Mo. It was at this place that he met his future wife, who was Miss Lottie Thompson. They were married and to this union three children were born, all of whom with his wife, survive him. Later they came to Blair and at present, reside on the Foley farm. Many friends of the deceased extend keenest sympathy to the bereaved ones who are left behind and express hope that soon the sorrowing ones will find comfort. The funeral was held this afternoon at the home at 2:00, Rev. C. M. Foreman officiating.
