Services were Monday, Feb. 3 at McCurdy’s Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, for Mabel Eletha Gilbert, 93, of Council Bluffs and formerly of Blair, who died Jan. 29, 1997, at Community Care South in Council Bluffs. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Mabel Eletha Gilbert was born Oct. 25, 1903, in Castana, Iowa, to John Jacob and Edith Eletha Pem Davis. She was a homemaker during her lifetime.

Her husband, Cecil Gilbert, preceded her in death in June, 1983.

She is survived by four daughters, Thelma Smith, Rosamond, Calif.; Joyce Donaldson, Fremont and formerly of Blair; Delores Baker, Council Bluffs and Carol Morris, Huntington beach, Calif.; seven sons, Howard, Council Bluffs; Leon, Springfield, Neb.; Wayne, Houston, Tex.; Ronald, Macedonia, Iowa; Gerald, Council Bluffs; Garry, Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Floyd Davis, Onaway, Iowa; 30 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
