John D. Eddy, 72

John D. Eddy, 72, of Blair, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jackson, Mich.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair, with the Rev. Al Salanitro officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Visitation begins 10 a.m. Sunday, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Rosary will be 7 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

John D. Eddy was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Central City, Colo., to Mary and John Bohn Eddy. He attended Catholic school and joined the U.S. Navy in 1948. He was honorably discharged in 1952.

Mr. Eddy was a 45-year employee of the World Insurance Co. in Omaha, and a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight from 1967 to 1968. He was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, and St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 154.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Lucille, eight children and their spouses, Christine (Bruce) Fountain of Lake Linden, Mich., Cynthia (Sergio) Garcia of Jackson, Mich., Cheryl (Dave) Kenner of Sacramento, Calif., Claudia (Don) Davis of Omaha, Caryn (Tom) Anderson of Blair, Cathy (Lynn) Michl of Waverly, Iowa, John F (Connie) Eddy of Omaha, and Coreen (Dennis) Leblanc of Lincoln, 23 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his mother, Mary Eddy, of Denver, Colo., and brother, Ronald Eddy, also of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Bohn Eddy, and his sister, Marylou Boone.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church building fund.
