Marian R. Gilbert, 79

Kennard native Marian R. Gilbert, 79, of Fremont, died Nov. 2, 2005 at the A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair, with interment in the Blair Cemetery.

Marian Rose Gilbert was born March 12, 1926, at Kennard to Alfred Soren and Edna (Andersen) Nielsen. She attended the March Country School and graduated from Blair High School.

On Feb. 6, 1945, she married Red Gilbert.

For many years, Mrs. Gilbert was the host for Dana College, and she kept a close relationship with the college after her retirement. She moved to Fremont to be close to her daughter. She was an excellent cook, loved to sew, and was very proud of her Danish heritage.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Bales of Fremont; two sons, Jon Gilbert of Seattle, Wash., and Tim Gilbert of Friend; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Warren Nielsen of Kennard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Red, in 1976; and two brothers, Richard and Alfred Nielsen Jr.

Memorials are suggested to Dana College.
