Nellie Giles, 94

Nellie Mae Giles, 94, of Tekamah, widow of Walter B. Giles, died on Tuesday evening, November 10, 1987, at the Oakland Heights Care Center in Oakland, where she had been a resident for the past eight years.

She was born on December 11, 1892, in Harrison County, Missouri, to W. C. and Julia F. (Rice) Stewart.

On May 9, 1917, at New Hampton, Missouri, Nellie was united in marriage to Walter Boyd Giles, and the couple moved to the Tekamah area the following year, where together they sold produce and operated a cream station for many years.

Mr. Giles died on April 6, 1964.

Nellie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tekamah, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge at Tekamah.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Mrs. Victor) Robinson of Fremont and Thelma Carlson of Lake Almanor, California; one brother, Harold Stewart of Glendale, California; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 13, 1987, at the Hamel & Peck Funeral Chapel in Tekamah, with Rev. Dwight W. Mason officiating.

Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

The family has asked that memorials be made to the Burst County Museum.

Arrangements were made by Hamel & Peck Funeral Home of Tekamah, Nebraska.
