James Gill, 74

James Jenning Gill, 74, of Tekamah, died early Saturday, September 26, 1987, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 5, 1913, at Tekamah to James S. and Dora (Heth) Gill.

Gill farmed near Tekamah nearly all his life. He was married to Alice Lindgren on June 18, 1937, at Lyons.

Gill served for several years on the District #4 School Board, the Silver Creek Township board, the Farmers Elevator Board, and the United Methodist Church Board, having been a member of the United Methodist Church in Tekamah nearly all his life.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Gill of Tekamah; two sons, Leroy and Robert Gill, both of Tekamah; three daughters, Elizabeth Hilgenfield of Dawson; Mary Swinton of Lincoln, and Nancy Hanna of Columbus; fourteen grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Gill of Mesa Verde, Arizona and two sisters, Anna Belle MacDonald of Omaha and Virginia Gamsby of Yreka, California; one sister-in-law, Edna Lund of Tekamah; several nieces and nephews.

Gill was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clarence, and one sister in infancy.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 28, 1987, at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating.

Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
