James Ward Gillespie, 71

James Ward Gillespie, 71, of Mesa, Ariz. Died Feb. 26, 1997, in Mesa.

Services were Saturday at Green Acres Chapel of Light in Scottsdale, Ariz. Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale was in charge of arrangements.

Gillespie was the brother of Steven Pinneo of Blair.

Gillespie was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Alfred and Viola Gillespie. He most recently lived in Tempe, Ariz., and Happy Jack, Ariz. He was a Teamster truck driver for Palo Verde and Roosevelt Dam. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 395. In Omaha, he worked for the Red Ball Transfer Company.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mae, of Tempe, Ariz.; two sons, Robert Gillespie of Underwood, Iowa, and James Gillespie of Scottsbluff, Neb.; three daughters, Patricia Vashon and Sherry Gunn, both of Mesa, Ariz., and Nancy Richardson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Mark Emmons of West Bloomfield, Mich.; a step-son, Ronnie Gillespie of Mesa, Ariz.; a step-daughter, Becky Nielsen of Tempe, Ariz.; two brothers, Donald Pinneo of Omaha and Steven Pinneo of Blair; two sisters, Shirley Christensen of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Lois Crane of Nora Springs, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary.

Memorials may be directed to Rim County Rescue in Happy Jack, Ariz.
