AMANDA KAHNK, 95

Former Fremont resident Amanda E. Kahnk, 95, of Blair, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Services were held on Thursday, July 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment was at the Blair Cemetery.

Amanda E. Kahnk was born Sept. 1, 1906, to George and Mary (Hansen) Kuhr.

She was baptized on September 9, 1923, at Immanuel Lutheran church in Orum. She was received as a communicant member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum in May of 1924. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair for more than 60 years. Kahnk attended the Lincoln School through the eighth grade, and then attended Rosehill School through the 10th grade. She devoted her life to raising her children and taking care of her home.

She was married to Gustav Kahnk on Feb 27, 1935. They had four children.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mardelle and Merle Andersen of Blair, three sons and daughters-in-law, Milo and Alice Kahnk of Kennard, Donald and Judy Kahnk of Fremont, Roland and Linda Kahnk of Kennard, 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Opal Ruwe of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Nov. 23, 1968, one grandson, Terry Andersen, great-grandson, Mark Andersen, four brothers and two sisters.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of services.
