Funeral services were Monday, October 9 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah with Rev. David L. Nystrom officiating for Louis Eckley, 86, who died October 6, 1989, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Louis Eckley was born April 9, 1903, at Tekamah to Charles and Minnie Eckley. He attended school at Tekamah and married Alta Mae Crow on June 21, 1928, at Logan, Iowa.

He was a partner in a blacksmith's shop in Tekamah with his brothers for many years, and was active on the Tekamah Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Tekamah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Marialice Jackson in 1979; two sisters, Olive Beatty and Rowena Lawson; and four brothers, Rupert, Howard, Vernon and Everett Eckley.

He is survived by his wife, Alta Mae Eckley of Tekamah; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Clara Mueller of Menlo Park, California and Dorothea Helstrom of Phoenix, Arizona; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive him.
