MRS. GEORGE KAHNK

Mrs. George Kahnk, another Washington county pioneer, passed to her eternal rest Monday noon, April 7 after an illness that has lasted over a number of years.

She was born in James State, Germany, in 1851 and came to America when but a girl. In 1871 she was married to Mr. George Kahnk of this county and together they lived on a farm in the southern part of the county, a happy, contented life and it was on the farm that their family was reared.

Mr. Kahnk was a good farmer and amassed enough money for a competence for old age and accordingly about twenty-one or twenty-two years ago purchased a home in Blair and retired in ease for the remainder of their lives.

Mrs. Kahnk was a good mother and a good wife and had the love and respect of a large number of friends and relatives who have known her ten years as a good neighbor and friend.

She leaves to mourn her besides the aged husband, seven children, two sons and five daughters: Mrs. Mary Schneider of Little Falls, Minnesota; Mrs. Anna Suverkrubbe of Bennington, Nebraska; Mrs. Tena Lamp of Blair, Nebraska; Mrs. Martha Luschen, of Wellfleet, Nebraska; Mrs. Emma Luschen, of Ruthton, Minnesota; and George Kahnk Jr., of Ruthton, Minnesota;, and William of Brunswick, Nebraska.

The funeral services were held this afternoon at the home on west Lincoln street and interment was made in the German cemetery in the southern part of the county near where she lived for so many years and thus another pioneer, a woman who had had much to do with the early development of this county, has passed to her eternal rest.
