Ardeth I. Larsen was born Dec. 24, 1915 to Elmer and Alice (Overman) Rood, and was raised near Nickersen. Her father died when she was only three, and her mother when she was 12, and she was raised by her aunt, Lois Taylor, in Omaha.

She attended Northside Christian Church and Omaha North School.

Mrs. Larsen then moved to Omaha where she lived until August, 2000. At that time, she moved to Carter House in Blair, then to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in March of 2002.

She enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends and quilting with her church ladies. She did babysitting and house-sitting for many years. She loved sewing, bowling and spoiling her 24 grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Northside Christian Church and belonged to their fun group called “Spunky Little People.” She was also a member of the Colby Corner Extension Club for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bill Wrich of Kennard; son, Lynn Larsen of Firestone, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Arlen and Phyllis Larsen of Kennard; daughters-in-law, Peg Larsen of Omaha and Pat Koch of Fort Calhoun; sister-in-law, Thelma Rood of Vancouver, Wash.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; two brothers; three sons, Eldon, Milton, and Norman; daughter-in-law, Sandy Larsen; and two grandsons, Russell Larsen and Dwight Wrich.
