Services for Clyde Eckel, age 95, who died Sunday, October 18, at the Tekamah Senior Citizen Home were held Thursday, October 22, 1992, at the Herman United Methodist Church with burial in the Shelby, Iowa Cemetery.

Clyde Eckel was born on April 4, 1897, at Hancock, Iowa, to Richard and Mary Elma Smith Eckel. Clyde served in the Army Medical Corp in France during World War I. He was the last surviving veteran from World War I who was a resident in Washington County.

He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Clarence Cushing, Shelby, Iowa, Dorothy and Lewis Muzzy, Spring Valley, California; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
