Mrs. Peter Gilbertson passed peacefully away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Guy Cook, on Saturday, February 17, 1923, after an extended illness due to declining age. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Episcopal Church, Rev. Marsh conducting the services. Mathea was a patient sufferer for ? months, taking to her bed six ? ago. Everything loving hands could do for her was done until God took the tired spirit home. Mathea Was born in Christiania, Norway on December 80, 1845, and was therefore 77 years of age. She grew to womanhood there and on April 13, 1868 was married to Peter Gilbertson. The young couple soon after sailed for the United States, came at one to Nebraska, settling first at Florence and homesteading near Blair where they resided for about 25 years. ? they retired from active farm life and moved to Blair where the husband and father died in June, 1912. She is survived by eight children, Mrs. Trainer, Cairo, West Va., G? of Niobrara, Neb., Fred, of O?, Mrs. Chas. Daffer, Pleasant ?, Neb. Ed., Oscar and Mrs. Guy ? all of Blair. Also two sisters, Mrs. Chris Johnson, of Maskell, Neb., and Mrs. R. N. Bull and one brother Halvor Nelson, both of Ellens?, Wash. Mrs. Gilbertson was of a quiet, retiring disposition, little known in public life, always preferring quietness of the home, but she never lost an opportunity to render attendance in time of sickness and need? Good neighbor, friend and a most ? and loving mother has been called to her eternal rest.

Mrs. Peter Gilbertson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Guy Cook, on Saturday, Feb. 17, 1923, following an illness of several months’ duration due to declining age, having been bedfast for the past six weeks. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the Episcopal church, Rev. A. E. Marsh conducting the services.

Martha Gran was born in Christianea, Norway Dec. 30, 1845, being therefore past 77 years of age. She was married on April 13, 1868 to Peter Gilbertson. The young couple came at once to the United States, and settled near Blair to enjoy the fruits of their labor, and it was while residing in Blair that the husband preceded her in death some eleven years ago.

She is survived by eight children. Mrs. J. A. Trainer, Cario, West Va.; Mrs. H. B. Marshall, Burnsville, West Va.; Mrs. Charles Dager, Pleasant Dale, Nebr.; George of Niobrara, Nebr.; Fred of Omaha; Ed, Oscar and Mrs. Guy Cook of Blair. She also has thirty seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. C. Johnson residing at Maskell, Nebr. and Mrs. R. N. Bull of Ellensburg, Wash. and a brother, Halvor of the same place.

Thus another pioneer has answered the final call.
