Raymond Gnuse, 90

Former Arlington resident Raymond Gnuse, 90, of Omaha, died April 7, 2001, at Life Care Center in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1821 N. 90th in Omaha. The Rev. Charles Gierke will officiate. Visitation was held Monday evening at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home; visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, north of Arlington.

Raymond Gnuse was born May 8, 1910, on a farm north of Arlington to William and Anna (Stork) Gnuse.

He grew up in rural Arlington and attended St. Paul’s Parochial School.

He farmed north of Arlington and did custom corn shelling until his retirement in 1975. He moved to Omaha in 1980.

On April 8, 1980, he married Wilma Brunkow at Wahoo.

He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Omaha, and was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma, a step-son and wife, Kevin and Joan Brunkow of Omaha, three step-daughters and their husbands, Sandy and Mike Pelikan and Pat and Tom Gehringer, all of Omaha, and Pam and Ken Roberts of Wahoo, a step-daughter-in-law, and husband, Kathy and Pat Black of Omaha, a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Lorraine Gnuse of Carpentaria, Calif., sister, Lenora Scheer of Arlington, eight step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Rinas, and three brothers, Lawrence, Edward and Martin Gnuse, and a step-son, Con Brunkow.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mark Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
