George H. Fentress, 91

George H. Fentress, 91, of Blair, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at Memorial Community Hospital following an accidental fall in his home.

A family gathering took place on June 17 to remember him. An additional remembrance may take place in Colorado in July.

George H. Fentress was born September 13, 1920, in Nashville, Tenn., to Henry Grady and Daisy Mae (Murkin) Fentress.

He graduated from high school in 1938.

He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a navigator (bombigator) between 1944 and 1946.

He graduated from Colorado School of Mines as a geological engineer in 1948. He served in the Colorado House of Representatives for the years 1964 through 1974.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David L. and Judy Fentress, of Hamilton, New Zealand, and Kenneth P. and Karen Fentress of Garland, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn K. and Cliff Morrow of Tekamah: a very close friend, Dorrie Hyde; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Wright) Fentress; his brother, Grady Fentress, and a sister, Helen Fentress Cromer.

Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah is in charge of arrangements.
