Helen Bucy, 83

Helen Bucy, 83, of Tekamah, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.

Services were Saturday, June 16, at the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Helen Burt Neary was born June 10, 1929, in Decatur to Martin and Helen Neary. She attended school in Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School in 1946. She earned a teaching certificate from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and taught grades 1-8 in a one-room country school for two years.

She married Earl Bucy on August 28, 1948. The couple lived on the family farm 12 miles north of Tekamah, which has been in the family for more than 150 years.

Mrs. Bucy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah.

She was an avid reader. She liked to play cards and bingo and loved to go to her grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by her husband; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Peg Bucy, Larry and Christine Bucy and Gary and Joan Bucy, all of Tekamah, and Jerry and Mary Bucy of Beatrice; one brother and sister-in-law, Del and Joan Neary of Atlantic, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Tim Bucy, Gregg Bucy, Stephanie Dahl, Tessa Darling, Alexis Linehan, Harrison Bucy, Justine Bucy and Josh Bucy; 13 great-grandchildren, Tomi Jo, Karlie, Chase and Kaden Dahl, Sage, Aiden, Carson and Addison Darling, Annie, Mitch and Jack Linehan and Alex and Gregorie Bucy.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lonnie and Joe Neary; infant siblings, Martin and Lois; and special friend, Fern Anson.
