Services Planned For Augusta Goedeker

Funeral services have been planned for 94 year old Augusta Goedeker who died on April 7, 1984, at the Crowell Home in Blair. The services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, at the Campbell Funeral Home in Blair with Dr. Gordon Patterson officiating and burial to be in the Flower Hill Cemetery at Bennington, Nebraska.

Augusta Claussen Goedeker was born April 15, 1889, to Peter Christian Claussen and Anna Moller. She was one of ten living children and grew up on the family farm north of Dodge, Nebraska. She cared for her parents and then kept a home for her brother for several years.

On January 8, 1932, she married Louis Goedeker and moved to his farm north of Bennington. A son, Dean, was born to this marriage. Dean eventually entered into the farming operation with his parents and continued it after Louis’ death in 1962.

Augusta stayed on the home place enjoying her grandchildren. Dean died in August of 1971 and in 1975, Augusta’s health forced her to move to Crowell Home in Blair. She is survived by her grandchildren, Joan Marie Havekost and Dale Goedeker of Bennington, Nebraska, and Jerry Goedeker of Valley, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Christopher Havekost and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Marianne Wait of Warsaw, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Dean Johns, Jeff Johns, Paul Johns, Vernie Wait, Rolland Gottsch and Londo Auch.
