Dr. Walter Goehring Died In Omaha Last Sunday, Aug. 8

Long Time Physician Here Had Been Ill For Past Five Years

Dr. Walter E. Goehring, a physician in Blair for the past thirty-two years, died at an Omaha hospital last Sunday, August 8th. He had been in failing health for the past five years and had suffered a paralytic stroke two years ago.

Dr. Goehring was born at Ravenna, Nebraska, August 5th, 1903. He was 68 years old at the time of his death.

He grew up in Ravenna and as a young man entered the banking business there. He was associated with the Ravenna Bank for seven years later deciding to enter medicine. He attended pre-medical school at Lincoln but graduated from the University Of Nebraska College Of Medicine in Omaha after which he interned at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

He opened medical offices in the Huber building in 1939 and a year later was married to Miss Edith Cochrane, who has been his constant companion during his long terminal illness.

After officing for a number of years in the Huber building, he built the present Goehring Medical Clinic at Fifteenth and Colfax Streets and this served as his offices until illness prevented the continuation of his practice.

He is survived by his wife, Edith and by a son, Darwin Goehring, of Paragould, Arkansas.

He was a Mason, a member of the Blue Lodge, a lover of big game hunting and an outdoorsman. He had a special interest in basketball, but held an active interest in all sports. For many years he owned a hunting and fishing lodge in Canada and he made many trips into the area with friends and associates who enjoyed the sport.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary, Wednesday, August 11th with the Rev. John Bauserman conducting the service. Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Martin Kuhr, Sr., Wayne Anderson; Stanley J. Bednar, James Fisher, Malcom Fisher; and Clarence Fisher.
