Former Arlington resident Richard P. Jones, 72, of Omaha, died Dec. 31, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Omaha.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan 5, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Interment will be at a later date in Prospect View Cemetery at Pierce.

Richard P. Jones was born July 21, 1935, in Osmond. He was a 1954 graduate of Dalton High School.

He served in the United States Army from Feb. 23, 1956, until Nov. 13, 1958, and was stationed in Germany.

He lived in Omaha, at Carter Lake, Iowa, and in Arlington before returning to Omaha. In addition to various jobs, he entertained at many area nursing homes as a country gospel singer.

Mr. Jones was responsible for starting the 508 MP Battalion Association.

He is survived by four brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Yvonne Jones of Kamiah, Idaho, David and April Jones of Pioneer, Calif., Eugene and Judy Jones of Bremerton, Wash., and Lester Jones of Boise, Idaho; two sister, Mary Berry and Kris Kirch, both of Richland, Wash.; and his aunt and special friend, Dorothy Brokaw of Fremont.
