James E. Goll, Sr., 65

Services for James E. Goll, Sr. 65, of Tekamah, who died of cancer December 4, 1992, at his home, were Tuesday, December 8, at First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah. Rev. Charles Mills officiated. Special graveside services were by the Masonic Lodge No. 31. Burial was at the Tekamah Cemetery.

James E. Goll, Sr. was born April 10, 1927, on a farm near Tekamah. He attended the Tekamah schools. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1950.

He served in the Naval Reserves during World War II as a storekeeper third class aboard the aircraft carrier Enterprise. After graduation from college he became president of Tekamah Motors, Inc., a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership.

He was appointed to the Nebraska Legislature in January, 1981, by Gov. Charles Thone to fill the seat of Senator Walter George of Blair, who had resigned. Goll, a Republican, was elected to a full term in 1982. He did not seek re-election in 1986. Washington County was within his legislative district.

He married Doran Lorenz April 14, 1950, in Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Doran; two sons, James and Charles, both of Tekamah; a daughter, Sarah L. Goll Haskell of Omaha; a brother, Richard of Tekamah and 11 grandchildren.

Memorials have been established to the church and the American Cancer Society.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
