Kermit Franklin Goll, 86

Kermit Goll, 86, of Blair, died Thursday, September 16, 1999, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Services were 10 a.m., Monday, September 16, 1999, at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Burial was in the Herman Cemetery.

Kermit Franklin Goll was born July 3, 1913, to Henry F. and Myrta Maree (McMullin) Goll in Tekamah.

Upon graduation from Tekamah High School, he was employed by the Cornish Auto Company. He then spent four years as bookkeeper for Burt County Co-op Oil Co.

In January 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. After training at various bases in the U. S., he was sent to England where he spent two years as the Non-Com in charge of procuring repairs for the heavy bombers in the squadron.

After the end of the war in Europe, he spent four months with the Air Transport Command in Iran before returning home in late 1945.

He again enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base where he was the Non-Com in charge of inventory for base supply.

While there, he was sent to Morocco for one year and then returned to Offutt, where he worked until he retired in 1965.

As a second career, he was employed by Civil Service for 20 years with Navy recruiting in Omaha.

On June 8, 1948, he married Dagmar Olson at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the American Legion, VFW, and a charter member of the Blair Melody men and choir at First Lutheran Church.

He loved to sing and was a soloist on many occasions. He and his wife also enjoyed singing together and the two of them spent over 50 years sharing with others, their messages in song, at weddings, funerals, church services and other occasions.

They also loved to travel and had many trips all over the U.S., including Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, the British Isles and Canada. One of their favorite places was the Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island, which they visited at least six times.

He also loved to work in his garden.

He is survived by his wife, Dagmar; brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Jean Goll of Riverside, Calif.; four nephews; eight great-nephews and nieces; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Arlene Eutchinson of Hamburg, Iowa, and Una Grothe of Fort Collins, Colo.; and a nephew, the Rev. Richard Grothe of Rawlins, Wyo.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
